President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll
The President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll program for 2007 is now underway! The Honor Roll recognizes colleges and universities for their encouragement and support for noteworthy student community service efforts.
The new web-based and user-friendly Honor Roll application is now available on Learn and Serve America's website, www.nationalservice.gov/honorroll, along with detailed information about this year's Honor Roll program.
Applications are due no later than October 5, 2007. Data reported in the application are for the period July 1, 2024 through June 30, 2007. All accredited, degree-granting colleges and universities in the U.S. are eligible to apply. Previous Honor Roll members and Presidential Award winners are welcome to apply again.
Honor Roll members will be announced and the Honor Roll awards ceremony will be held during the annual conference of the American Council on Education (ACE) in February 2008 in San Diego, California.
Please spread the word, all higher education institutions should apply to be recognized for their service!

Call for Case Studies - Higher Education Academy Network for Hospitality, Leisure, Sport and Tourism
Would like to identify a faculty member who teaches in hospitality, leisure, sport or tourism and who uses service learning in a way that enhances the employability skills of students. This is to contribute to a series of case studies that demonstrate how student experience within the curriculum can enhance the employability skills of students. Call for Best Practices - Commission on Community-Engaged Scholarship in the Health Professions
With funding from the WK Kellogg Foundation, the Commission on Community-Engaged Scholarship in the Health Professions was convened by Community-Campus Partnerships for Health to take a leadership role in creating a more supportive culture and reward system for health professional faculty involved in community-based participatory research, service-learning and other forms of "community-engaged scholarship." As a part of its work, the Commission seeks to highlight examples of how health professional schools and departments are currently recognizing and rewarding community-engaged scholarship, and examples of faculty members who are successfully pursuing community-engaged scholarship. Call for Best Practices - Campaign for the Civic Mission of Schools
The Campaign actively seeks civic learning practice examples for our online inventory, an educational resource for educators, policymakers, and advocates to discover civic learning practices by grade level and teaching approach. Reviewed by an advisory group of experts, the examples align with the Civic Mission of Schools report's six-promising approaches to civic learning. The Campaign seeks all kinds of examples: established and pilot, local, regional, or national in scope. Teachers, school administrators, program officers, community members, and others engaged in educating K-12 students for democracy are encouraged to submit lessons, extracurricular opportunities, curricula, supplemental programs, and other resources.
