University of Central Florida Provost Terry Hickey presents a $2000 award to a group of service-learning students at the University of Central Florida.

"For many students, a service-learning placement is their initial experience in the professional workplace. As important as these experiences are to practice lessons from the classroom for a civic end, it is also important for students to begin to understand the climate and culture of work. In subtle ways, interaction with professionals in an office helps our students to better understand important work habits and traits that many of us may take for granted but are, in fact, important learned skills."
