As part of the Life Legacy Partnership, Jacksonville University students will incorporate service-learning and the elders project in an interactive projects with senior residents of Hurley Manor, a senior apartment complex near the university.
Highlights:
- Computer Information Systems students will increase the ability of seniors to communicate with loved ones by teaching them how to access the internet, send photos, and how to write and send email. They will also instruct seniors to play the interactive game system WIE, increasing entertainment options and encouraging physical activity.
- Theater students will interview and videotape selected seniors, engaging them in sharing their life stories. The videos will be compiled to share the contributions they have made to society and to leave a legacy for their family members.
