Impact Project 2006-2008

Palm Beach Community College hopes to involve all PBCC students in at least one service-learning class by the time they graduate. They are making long strides in this direction with the addition of Professor Heidi Ladika-Cipolla as PBCC's first service-learning coordinator. She has been working diligently garnering faculty and student interest, and was instrumental in helping PBCC secure funding for the Impact Project.

Project Leader

Heidi Ladika-Cipolla holds a Masters degree in International Business from Lynn University and a Bachelors degree in Hotel Restaurant Management from the College of Boca Raton.  She received her Certificate in Comprehensive Baking and Pastry Majors Program from the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York; where she has been recognized for developing a district-wide Service-Learning Program. She is an associate professor with Palm Beach Community College and continues to teach in the Hospitality Management Program while developing a district-wide Service-Learning Program.  Mrs. Ladika-Cipolla has made great strides in cultivating faculty and community partner relationships which have resulted in establishing 17 new service-learning courses.  The courses are expected to begin in the Fall of 2007 at each of the Palm Beach Community College's four campuses. The new courses will be designated with an "SL" prefix designator.
